My name is DeVer Warner (@deverwarner). I am a former junior venture capitalist living through his first second recession at the ripe old age of 24 25 26 27. I recently completed my MBA at The University of Virginia and landed at a private equity firm working on middle market buyouts.
This is my place to opine on the seismic changes that are unfolding in business and finance, as seen through the awed lenses of youth and inexperience.
The name? A feeble attempt at word play. In the parlance of my field, it’s industrial sea change at its seed stage.
The purpose? To force myself to articulate my thoughts beyond the confined realms of e-mail, conference rooms, and New York barstools.
The goal? To look back on my musings and laugh at my poor judgment. Or maybe revel in my foresight.
Thanks for reading.

If the stimulus package actually creates jobs and spurs further investment, i will eat my shorts. Obama has no clue what he’s doing. And he doesn’t seem to care much about the markets based on recent comments. But let’s stay optimistic and hope and pray that brilliant investment professionals, like my husband, will still find a way to make money … even though our president is more focused on taking it away. Favorite bumper sticker of the week “HONK…if you’re paying my mortgage.”
